Genesis 12:7-8

7Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, c“To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built there an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him. 8From there he moved to the hill country on the east of dBethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. And there he built an altar to the Lord and called upon the name of the Lord.

Genesis 13:4

4to ethe place where he had made an altar at the first. And there Abram called upon the name of the Lord.

Genesis 22:9

9When they came to the place of which God had told him, Abraham built the altar there and laid the wood in order and bound Isaac his son and flaid him on the altar, on top of the wood.

Genesis 26:25

20There he erected an altar and called it El-Elohe-Israel.
 El-Elohe-Israel means God, the God of Israel


Genesis 35:1

God Blesses and Renames Jacob

1God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to iBethel and dwell there. Make an altar there to the God who appeared to you jwhen you fled from your brother Esau.”

Genesis 35:7

7and there he built an altar and called the place El-bethel,
 El-bethel means God of Bethel
because lthere God had revealed himself to him when he fled from his brother.

Exodus 20:24-25

24An altar of earth you shall make for me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen. mIn every place where I cause my name to be remembered I will come to you and nbless you. 25 oIf you make me an altar of stone, pyou shall not build it of hewn stones, for if you wield your tool on it you profane it.

Exodus 24:4-8

4And qMoses wrote down all the words of the Lord. He rose early in the morning and built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and twelve rpillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel. 5And he sent young men of the people of Israel, who offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen to the Lord. 6And sMoses took half of the blood and put it in basins, and half of the blood he threw against the altar. 7Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it in the hearing of the people. And they said, tAll that the Lord has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient.” 8 uAnd Moses took the blood and threw it on the people and said, “Behold the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you in accordance with all these words.”
