18And Joseph answered and said, aThis is its interpretation: the three baskets are three days.

Genesis 41:12

12A young Hebrew was there with us, a servant of the captain of the guard. When we told him, bhe interpreted our dreams to us, giving an interpretation to each man according to his dream.

Genesis 41:25-26

25Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, “The dreams of Pharaoh are one; cGod has revealed to Pharaoh what he is about to do. 26The seven good cows are seven years, and the seven good ears are seven years; the dreams are one.

Judges 7:14

14And his comrade answered, “This is no other than the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel; God has given into his hand Midian and all the camp.”

Daniel 2:36-45

36This was the dream. Now we will tell the king its interpretation. 37You, O king, dthe king of kings, to whom ethe God of heaven fhas given the kingdom, the power, and the might, and the glory, 38and into whose hand he has given, wherever they dwell, the children of man, gthe beasts of the field, and the birds of the heavens, making you rule over them allyou are hthe head of gold. 39 iAnother kingdom inferior to you shall arise after you, and yet a third kingdom jof bronze, kwhich shall rule over all the earth. 40And lthere shall be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron, because iron mbreaks to pieces and shatters all things. And like iron that crushes, it shall nbreak and crush all these. 41And as you saw othe feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, it shall be a divided kingdom, but some of the pfirmness of iron shall be in it, just as you saw iron mixed with the soft clay. 42And as the toes of the feet were partly iron and partly clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly brittle. 43As you saw the iron mixed with soft clay, so they will mix with one another in marriage,
Aramaic by the seed of men
but they will not hold together, just as iron does not mix with clay.
44And in the days of those kings rthe God of heaven will set up sa kingdom that shall never be destroyed, nor shall the kingdom be left to another people. tIt shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and uit shall stand forever, 45just as vyou saw that wa stone was cut from a mountain by no human hand, and that xit broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold. A ygreat God has made known to the king what shall be after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation sure.”

Daniel 4:19-33

Daniel Interprets the Second Dream

19Then Daniel, whose name was zBelteshazzar, was aadismayed for a while, and abhis thoughts alarmed him. The king answered and said, “Belteshazzar, let not the dream or the interpretation alarm you.” Belteshazzar answered and said, “My lord, acmay the dream be for those who hate you adand its interpretation for your enemies! 20 aeThe tree you saw, which grew and became strong, so that its top reached to heaven, and it was visible to the end of the whole earth, 21 afwhose leaves were beautiful and its fruit abundant, and in which was food for all, under which beasts of the field found shade, and in whose branches the birds of the heavens lived 22 agit is you, O king, who have grown and become strong. ahYour greatness has grown and reaches to heaven, aiand your dominion to the ends of the earth. 23And because the king saw aja watcher, a holy one, coming down from heaven and saying, akChop down the tree and destroy it, but leave the stump of its roots in the earth, bound with a band of iron and bronze, in the tender grass of the field, and let him be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till alseven periods of time pass over him,’ 24this is the interpretation, O king: It is a decree of the Most High, which has come upon my lord the king, 25 amthat you shall be driven from among men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. You shall be made anto eat grass like an ox, and you shall be wet with the dew of heaven, and aoseven periods of time shall pass over you, till apyou know that the Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will. 26And as it was commanded aqto leave the stump of the roots of the tree, your kingdom shall be confirmed for you from the time that you know that Heaven rules. 27Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you: break off your sins by arpracticing righteousness, asand your iniquities by showing mercy to the oppressed, atthat there may perhaps be a lengthening of your prosperity.”

Nebuchadnezzar’s Humiliation

28All this came upon King Nebuchadnezzar. 29At the end of twelve months he was walking on the roof of the royal palace of Babylon, 30and the king answered and said, au“Is not this great Babylon, which I have built by avmy mighty power as a royal residence and for awthe glory of my majesty?” 31 axWhile the words were still in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, “O King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: The kingdom has departed from you, 32 ayand you shall be driven from among men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. And you shall be made to eat grass like an ox, and seven periods of time shall pass over you, azuntil you know that the Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will.” 33Immediately the word was fulfilled against Nebuchadnezzar. baHe was driven from among men and ate grass like an ox, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven till his hair grew as long as eagles’ feathers, and his nails were like birds’ claws.
