Genesis 41:50-52

50Before the year of famine came, atwo sons were born to Joseph. Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera priest of On, bore them to him. 51Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh. “For,” he said, “God has made me forget all my hardship and all my father’s house.”
 Manasseh sounds like the Hebrew for making to forget
52The name of the second he called Ephraim, “For God has cmade me fruitful in the land of my affliction.”
 Ephraim sounds like the Hebrew for making fruitful


Genesis 46:20

20And eto Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, whom Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera the priest of fOn, bore to him.

Genesis 50:23

23And Joseph saw Ephraim’s children gof the third generation. The hchildren also of Machir the son of Manasseh were icounted as Joseph’s own.
