Genesis 42:9-18

9And Joseph aremembered the dreams that he had dreamed of them. bAnd he said to them, “You are spies; you have come to see the nakedness of the land.” 10They said to him, “No, my lord, your servants have come to buy food. 11We are all sons of one man. We are honest men. Your servants have never been spies.”

12He said to them, “No, it is the nakedness of the land that you have come to see.” 13And they said, “We, your servants, are twelve brothers, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan, and behold, the youngest is this day with our father, and one cis no more.” 14But Joseph said to them, “It is as I said to you. You are spies. 15By this you shall be tested: by the life of Pharaoh, you shall not go from this place unless your youngest brother comes here. 16Send one of you, and let him bring your brother, while you remain confined, that your words may be tested, whether there is truth in you. Or else, by the life of Pharaoh, surely you are spies.” 17And he put them all together in custody for three days.

18On the third day Joseph said to them, “Do this and you will live, dfor I fear God:

Joshua 2:1-3

Rahab Hides the Spies

1And Joshua the son of Nun esent
Or had sent
two men secretly from Shittim as spies, saying, “Go, view the land, especially Jericho.” And they went and came into the house of ga prostitute whose name was hRahab and lodged there.
2And it was told to the king of Jericho, “Behold, men of Israel have come here tonight to search out the land.” 3Then the king of Jericho sent to Rahab, saying, “Bring out the men who have come to you, who entered your house, for they have come to search out all the land.”

Judges 1:23-24

23And the house of Joseph scouted out Bethel. ( iNow the name of the city was formerly Luz.) 24And the spies saw a man coming out of the city, and they said to him, “Please show us the way into the city, jand we will deal kindly with you.”

Judges 18:2

2So the people of Dan sent five able men from the whole number of their tribe, kfrom Zorah and from Eshtaol, lto spy out the land and to explore it. And they said to them, “Go and explore the land.” And they came mto the hill country of Ephraim, to the house of Micah, and lodged there.

Judges 18:8-10

8And when they came to their brothers at nZorah and Eshtaol, their brothers said to them, “What do you report?” 9They said, oArise, and let us go up against them, for we have seen the land, and behold, it is very good. pAnd will you do nothing? qDo not be slow to go, to enter in and possess the land. 10As soon as you go, you will come to an runsuspecting people. The land is spacious, for God has given it into your hands, sa place where there is no lack of anything that is in the earth.”
