And he said, “I am your brother, Joseph, awhom you sold into Egypt. 5And now do not be distressed or angry with yourselves because you sold me here, bfor God sent me before you to preserve life. 6For the famine has been in the land these two years, and there are cyet five years in which there will be neither dplowing nor harvest. 7And God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant on earth, and to keep alive for you many survivors. 8So it was not you who sent me here, but God. He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house and eruler over all the land of Egypt.

20 wAt this time Moses was born; and he was beautiful in God’s sight. And he was brought up for three months in his father’s house, 21and xwhen he was exposed, Pharaoh’s daughter adopted him and brought him up as her own son. 22And Moses ywas instructed in zall the wisdom of the Egyptians, and he was aamighty in his words and deeds.

23When he was forty years old, it came into his heart abto visit his brothers, the children of Israel. 24And seeing one of them being wronged, he defended the oppressed man and avenged him by striking down the Egyptian. 25He supposed that his brothers would understand that God was giving them salvation by his hand, but they did not understand.
