Genesis 6:1-2

Increasing Corruption on Earth

1When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, 2the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose.

Judges 3:6

6 aAnd their daughters they took to themselves for wives, and their own daughters they gave to their sons, and they served their gods.

1 Kings 11:1-8

Solomon Turns from the Lord

1Now bKing Solomon loved many foreign women, along with the daughter of Pharaoh: Moabite, Ammonite, Edomite, Sidonian, and Hittite women, 2from the nations concerning which the Lord had said to the people of Israel, c“You shall not enter into marriage with them, neither shall they with you, for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods.” Solomon clung to these in love. 3He had 700 wives, who were princesses, and 300 concubines. And his wives turned away his heart. 4For when Solomon was old his wives turned away his heart after other gods, and dhis heart was not wholly true to the Lord his God, eas was the heart of David his father. 5For Solomon went after fAshtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after gMilcom the abomination of the Ammonites. 6So Solomon did what was evil in the sight of the Lord and did not wholly follow the Lord, as David his father had done. 7Then Solomon built a high place for hChemosh the abomination of Moab, and for iMolech the abomination of the Ammonites, on the mountain east of Jerusalem. 8And so he did for all his foreign wives, who made offerings and sacrificed to their gods.

Ezra 9:1-2

Ezra Prays About Intermarriage

1After these things had been done, the officials approached me and said, “The people of Israel and the priests and the jLevites have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands kwith their abominations, from the lCanaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites. 2 mFor they have taken some of their daughters to be wives for themselves and for their sons, so that the nholy race
Hebrew offspring
has pmixed itself with the peoples of the lands. And in this faithlessness the hand of the officials and chief men has been foremost.”

Ezra 9:12

12 qTherefore do not give your daughters to their sons, neither take their daughters for your sons, and never seek their peace or prosperity, that you may be strong and eat the good of the land rand leave it for an inheritance to your children forever.’

Ezra 10:2

2And Shecaniah the son of Jehiel, of the sons of Elam, addressed Ezra: s“We have broken faith with our God and have married foreign women from the peoples of the land, but even now there is hope for Israel in spite of this.

Nehemiah 13:23-29

23In those days also I saw the Jews twho had married women uof Ashdod, vAmmon, and wMoab. 24And half of their children spoke the language of Ashdod, and they could not speak the language of Judah, but only the language of each people. 25 xAnd I confronted them and cursed them and beat some of them and pulled out their hair. yAnd I made them take an oath in the name of God, saying, “You shall not give your daughters to their sons, or take their daughters for your sons or for yourselves. 26 zDid not Solomon king of Israel sin on account of such women? aaAmong the many nations there was no king like him, and he was abbeloved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel. Nevertheless, foreign women made even him to sin. 27Shall we then listen to you and do all this great evil and acact treacherously against our God by marrying foreign women?”

28And one of the sons of adJehoiada, the son of aeEliashib the high priest, was the son-in-law of afSanballat the Horonite. Therefore I chased him from me. 29 agRemember them, O my God, because they have desecrated the priesthood ahand the covenant of the priesthood and the Levites.
