Genesis 6:1-5

Increasing Corruption on Earth

1When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, 2the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. 3Then the Lord said, a“My Spirit shall not abide in
Or  My Spirit shall not contend with
man forever, cfor he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.”
4The Nephilim
Or giants
were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown.

5 eThe Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every fintention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Deuteronomy 7:3-4

3 gYou shall not intermarry with them, giving your daughters to their sons or taking their daughters for your sons, 4for they would turn away your sons from following me, to serve other gods. hThen the anger of the Lord would be kindled against you, and he would destroy you iquickly.

1 Kings 11:1-5

Solomon Turns from the Lord

1Now jKing Solomon loved many foreign women, along with the daughter of Pharaoh: Moabite, Ammonite, Edomite, Sidonian, and Hittite women, 2from the nations concerning which the Lord had said to the people of Israel, k“You shall not enter into marriage with them, neither shall they with you, for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods.” Solomon clung to these in love. 3He had 700 wives, who were princesses, and 300 concubines. And his wives turned away his heart. 4For when Solomon was old his wives turned away his heart after other gods, and lhis heart was not wholly true to the Lord his God, mas was the heart of David his father. 5For Solomon went after nAshtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after oMilcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

Nehemiah 13:25-26

25 pAnd I confronted them and cursed them and beat some of them and pulled out their hair. qAnd I made them take an oath in the name of God, saying, “You shall not give your daughters to their sons, or take their daughters for your sons or for yourselves. 26 rDid not Solomon king of Israel sin on account of such women? sAmong the many nations there was no king like him, and he was tbeloved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel. Nevertheless, foreign women made even him to sin.
