Hosea 10:5-6

5The inhabitants of Samaria tremble
for athe calf
Or calves
of cBeth-aven.
Its people mourn for it, and so do its idolatrous priests
those who rejoiced over it and dover its glory
for it has departed
Or  has gone into exile
from them.
6 fThe thing itself shall be carried to Assyria
as tribute to gthe great king.
Or  to King Jareb

Ephraim shall be put to shame,
and Israel shall be ashamed iof his idol.
Or counsel

Joel 1:5

5 Awake, you drunkards, and weep,
and kwail, all you drinkers of wine,
because of lthe sweet wine,
for it is cut off from your mouth.

Joel 1:11

The Hebrew words for  dry up and  be ashamed in verses 10–12, 17 sound alike
O tillers of the soil;
wail, O vinedressers,
for the wheat and the barley,
obecause the harvest of the field has perished.

Joel 1:13

A Call to Repentance

13 pPut on sackcloth and lament, qO priests;
rwail, O ministers of the altar.
Go in, spass the night in sackcloth,
tO ministers of my God!
uBecause grain offering and drink offering
are withheld from the house of your God.

Amos 5:23

23Take away from me the noise of your songs;
to vthe melody of your harps I will not listen.

Amos 8:10

10 wI will turn your feasts into mourning
and all your songs into lamentation;
xI will bring sackcloth on every waist
yand baldness on every head;
zI will make it like the mourning for an only son
and the end of it like a bitter day.

The Flock Doomed to Slaughter

that the fire may devour your cedars!
2Wail, O cypress, for the cedar has fallen,
for the glorious trees are ruined!
Wail, aboaks of Bashan,
for the thick forest has been felled!
3The sound of acthe wail of adthe shepherds,
for their glory is ruined!
The sound of the roar of aethe lions,
affor the thicket of the Jordan is ruined!
