Hosea 13:3

3Therefore they shall be alike the morning mist
or blike the dew that goes early away,
clike the chaff that swirls from the threshing floor
or dlike smoke from a window.

Amos 2:14-16

14 eFlight shall perish from the swift,
fand the strong shall not retain his strength,
gnor shall the mighty save his life;
15he who handles the bow shall not stand,
and he who is hswift of foot shall not save himself,

and that which went out a hundred
shall have ten left
to the house of Israel.”

Amos 6:11

11 For behold, the Lord commands,
and othe great house shall be struck down into fragments,
and the little house into bits.

Amos 7:8-9

8And the Lord said to me, pAmos, what do you see?” And I said, “A plumb line.” Then the Lord said,

Behold, I am setting qa plumb line
in the midst of my people Israel;
rI will never again pass by them;
9 sthe high places of Isaac shall be made desolate,
and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste,
and I will rise against tthe house of Jeroboam with the sword.”

Amos 7:17

17 uTherefore thus says the Lord:

“‘Your wife shall be a prostitute in the city,
and your sons and your daughters shall fall by the sword,
and your land vshall be divided up with a measuring line;
you yourself shall die in an unclean land,
and wIsrael shall surely go into exile away from its land.’”

The Destruction of Israel

1I saw the Lord standing beside

yStrike the capitals until zthe thresholds aashake,
aband shatter them on the heads of all the people;
Hebrew  all of them

and those who are left of them I will kill with the sword;
adnot one of them shall flee away;
not one of them shall escape.
2 aeIf they dig into Sheol,
from there shall my hand take them;
afif they climb up to heaven,
from there I will bring them down.
3If they hide themselves on agthe top of Carmel,
from there I will search them out and take them;
ahand if they hide from my sight at the bottom of the sea,
there I will command the serpent, and it shall bite them.
4 aiAnd if they go into captivity before their enemies,
there I will command the sword, and it shall kill them;
ajand I will fix my eyes upon them
for evil and not for good.”
5 The Lord God of hosts,
he who touches the earth and akit melts,
and all who dwell in it mourn,
aland all of it rises like the Nile,
amand sinks again, like the Nile of Egypt;
6 anwho builds his upper chambers in the heavens
and founds his vault upon the earth;
aowho calls for the waters of the sea
and pours them out upon the surface of the earth
apthe Lord is his name.
7 “Are you not like aqthe Cushites to me,
O people of Israel?” declares the Lord.
ar“Did I not bring up Israel from the land of Egypt,
and asthe Philistines from atCaphtor and the Syrians from auKir?
8Behold, avthe eyes of the Lord God are upon the sinful kingdom,
and I will destroy it from the surface of the ground,
awexcept that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob,”

declares the Lord.
9 For behold, I will command,
axand shake the house of Israel among all the nations
as one shakes with a sieve,
but no pebble shall fall to the earth.

Micah 1:6-8

6Therefore I will make aySamaria aza heap in the open country,
a place for planting vineyards,
and I will pour down her stones bainto the valley
and bbuncover her foundations.
7All bcher carved images shall be beaten to pieces,
bdall her wages shall be burned with fire,
and all her idols I will lay waste,
for from bethe fee of a prostitute she gathered them,
and to the fee of a prostitute they shall return.
8 bfFor this I will lament and wail;
I will go bgstripped and naked;
I will make lamentation bhlike the jackals,
and mourning bilike the ostriches.
