Hosea 14:1-3

A Plea to Return to the Lord

1 aReturn, O Israel, to the Lord your God,
for byou have stumbled because of your iniquity.

and return to the Lord;
say to him,
Take away all iniquity;
accept cwhat is good,
and we will pay with bulls
dthe vows
Septuagint, Syriac  pay the fruit
of our lips.
3 fAssyria shall not save us;
gwe will not ride on horses;
and hwe will say no more, ‘Our God,’
to the work of our hands.
iIn you the orphan finds mercy.”

Amos 5:14-15

that you may live;
and so the Lord, kthe God of hosts, will be with you,
as you have said.

What Does the Lord Require?

6 o“With what shall I come before the Lord,
and bow myself before pGod on high?
Shall I come before him with burnt offerings,
with calves a year old?
7 qWill the Lord be pleased with
Or  Will the Lord accept
thousands of rams,
with ten thousands of rivers of oil?
sShall I give my firstborn for my transgression,
the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?”
8He has told you, O man, what is good;
and twhat does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
Or steadfast love

and to vwalk humbly with your God?

Zephaniah 2:1-3

—before the day passes away zlike chaff
aabefore there comes upon you
the burning anger of the Lord,
before there comes upon you
the day of the anger of the Lord.
