Hosea 14:1-4

A Plea to Return to the Lord

1 aReturn, O Israel, to the Lord your God,
for byou have stumbled because of your iniquity.
2Take with you words
and return to the Lord;
say to him,
Take away all iniquity;
accept cwhat is good,
and we will pay with bulls
dthe vows
Septuagint, Syriac  pay the fruit
of our lips.
3 fAssyria shall not save us;
gwe will not ride on horses;
and hwe will say no more, ‘Our God,’
to the work of our hands.
iIn you the orphan finds mercy.”
4 I jwill heal their apostasy;
kI will love them freely,
for my anger has turned from them.

3Therefore say to them, Thus declares the Lord of hosts: lReturn to me, says the Lord of hosts, and mI will return to you, says the Lord of hosts.

Luke 15:16-24

16And he nwas longing to be fed with the pods that the pigs ate, and no one gave him anything.

17But owhen he pcame to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! 18I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, qI have sinned against rheaven and before you. 19 sI am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.”’ 20And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and tran and uembraced him and vkissed him. 21And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. wI am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
Some manuscripts add treat me as one of your hired servants
22But the father said to his servants,
Greek bondservants
Bring quickly zthe best robe, and put it on him, and put aaa ring on his hand, and abshoes on his feet.
23And bring acthe fattened calf and kill it, and adlet us eat and celebrate. 24For this my son aewas dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate.
