Matthew 22:23-32

Sadducees Ask About the Resurrection

23 The same day ⁱSadducees came to him, ^jwho say that there is no resurrection, and they asked him a question, 24 saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ^k‘If a man dies having no children, his brother must marry the widow and raise up offspring for his brother.’ 25 Now there were seven brothers among us. The first married and died, and having no offspring left his wife to his brother. 26 So too the second and third, down to the seventh. 27 After them all, the woman died. 28 In the resurrection, therefore, of the seven, whose wife will she be? For they all had her.”

29 But Jesus answered them, “You are wrong, ^lbecause you know neither the Scriptures nor ^mthe power of God. 30 For in the resurrection they neither ⁿmarry nor ^oare given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. 31 And as for the resurrection of the dead, ^phave you not read what was said to you by God: 32 ^q‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not God of the dead, but of the living.”

Luke 14:14

14 and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid ^rat ^sthe resurrection of the just.”

Acts 17:31-32

31 because he has fixed ^ta day on which ^uhe will judge the world ^vin righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and ^wof this he has given assurance to all ^xby raising him from the dead.”

32 Now when they heard of ^ythe resurrection of the dead, ^zsome mocked. But others said, ^aa“We will hear you again about this.”

Acts 23:6-9

6 Now when Paul perceived that one part were ^abSadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, “Brothers, ^acI am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees. It is ^adwith respect to the ^aehope and the resurrection of the dead that I am on trial.” 7 And when he had said this, a dissension arose between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the assembly was divided. 8 For the Sadducees ^afsay that there is no resurrection, nor angel, nor spirit, but the Pharisees acknowledge them all. 9 Then a great clamor arose, and some of ^agthe scribes of the Pharisees’ party stood up and contended sharply, ^ah“We find nothing wrong in this man. What ^aiif a spirit or an angel spoke to him?”

Acts 24:15
