A Plea to Return to the Lord

1 wReturn, O Israel, to the Lord your God,
for xyou have stumbled because of your iniquity.
2Take with you words
and return to the Lord;
say to him,
Take away all iniquity;
accept ywhat is good,
and we will pay with bulls
zthe vows
Septuagint, Syriac  pay the fruit
of our lips.
3 abAssyria shall not save us;
acwe will not ride on horses;
and adwe will say no more, ‘Our God,’
to the work of our hands.
aeIn you the orphan finds mercy.”
4 I afwill heal their apostasy;
agI will love them freely,
for my anger has turned from them.
