Isaiah 1:19

19 aIf you are willing and obedient,
you shall eat the good of the land;

Jeremiah 7:3-7

3Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: bAmend your ways and your deeds, and I will let you dwell in this place. 4 cDo not trust in these deceptive words: ‘This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord.’

5For if you truly damend your ways and your deeds, if you truly eexecute justice one with another, 6if you fdo not oppress the sojourner, the fatherless, or the widow, gor shed innocent blood in this place, hand if you do not go after other gods to your own harm, 7 ithen I will let you dwell in this place, jin the land that I gave of old to your fathers forever.

Jeremiah 7:23

23But this command I gave them: kObey my voice, and lI will be your God, and you shall be my people. mAnd walk in all the way that I command you, nthat it may be well with you.’

Jeremiah 17:20-27

20and say: ‘Hear the word of the Lord, oyou kings of Judah, and all Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, who enter by these gates. 21Thus says the Lord: Take care for the sake of your lives, and pdo not bear a burden on the Sabbath day or bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem. 22And do not carry a burden out of your houses on the Sabbath qor do any work, but rkeep the Sabbath day holy, as I commanded your fathers. 23Yet sthey did not listen or incline their ear, tbut stiffened their neck, that they umight not hear and receive instruction.

24“‘But if you listen to me, declares the Lord, and vbring in no burden by the gates of this city on the Sabbath day, but wkeep the Sabbath day holy and do no work on it, 25then xthere shall enter by the gates of this city kings and princes who sit on the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they and their officials, the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And this city shall be inhabited forever. 26And people shall come from ythe cities of Judah zand the places around Jerusalem, aafrom the land of Benjamin, abfrom the Shephelah, from the hill country, acand from adthe Negeb, bringing aeburnt offerings and sacrifices, grain offerings and frankincense, and afbringing thank offerings to the house of the Lord. 27But if you do not listen to me, to agkeep the Sabbath day holy, ahand not to bear a burden and enter by the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will aikindle a fire in its gates, and it shall ajdevour the palaces of Jerusalem and akshall not be quenched.’”

Ezekiel 22:2-16

2“And you, alson of man, amwill you judge, will you judge anthe bloody city? aoThen declare to her all her abominations. 3You shall say, Thus says the Lord God: A city that sheds blood in her midst, so that apher time may come, and that makes idols to defile herself! 4You have become guilty aqby the blood that you have shed, and defiled by the idols that you have made, and you have brought aryour days near, the appointed time of
Some Hebrew manuscripts, Septuagint, Syriac, Vulgate, Targum; most Hebrew manuscripts until
your years has come. atTherefore I have made you a reproach to the nations, and a mockery to all the countries.
5Those who are near and those who are far from you will mock you; auyour name is defiled; avyou are full of tumult.

6Behold, awthe princes of Israel in you, every one according to his power, have been bent on shedding blood. 7Father and mother axare treated with contempt in you; the sojourner aysuffers extortion in your midst; the fatherless and the widow azare wronged in you. 8 baYou have despised my holy things and bbprofaned my Sabbaths. 9 bcThere are men in you who slander to shed blood, and people in you bdwho eat on the mountains; bethey commit lewdness in your midst. 10In you bfmen uncover their fathersnakedness; in you they violate women who are unclean in their menstrual impurity. 11 bgOne commits abomination with his neighbor’s wife; bhanother lewdly defiles his daughter-in-law; bianother in you violates his sister, his father’s daughter. 12In you bjthey take bribes to shed blood; bkyou take interest and profit
That is, profit that comes from charging interest to the poor (compare Leviticus 25:36)
and make gain of your neighbors by extortion; but bmme you have forgotten, declares the Lord God.

13Behold, bnI strike my hand at bothe dishonest gain that you have made, and at bpthe blood that has been in your midst. 14 bqCan your courage endure, or can your hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with you? brI the Lord have spoken, and I will do it. 15 bsI will scatter you among the nations and disperse you through the countries, and btI will consume your uncleanness out of you. 16And buyou shall be profaned by your own doing bvin the sight of the nations, bwand you shall know that I am the Lord.”

Ezekiel 33:25-29

25Therefore say to them, Thus says the Lord God: bxYou eat flesh with the blood and bylift up your eyes to your idols and bzshed blood; shall you then possess the land? 26 caYou rely on the sword, cbyou commit abominations, and cceach of you defiles his neighbor’s wife; shall you then possess the land? 27Say this to them, Thus says the Lord God: cdAs I live, surely those who are in cethe waste places shall fall by cfthe sword, and whoever is in the open field I will give to cgthe beasts to be devoured, and those who are in chstrongholds and in caves shall die by cipestilence. 28 cjAnd I will make the land a desolation and a waste, and ckher proud might shall come to an end, and clthe mountains of Israel shall be so desolate that none will pass through. 29 cmThen they will know that I am the Lord, when I have made the land a desolation and a waste because of all their abominations that they have committed.
