Isaiah 1:5-15

5 Why will you still be astruck down?
Why will you bcontinue to rebel?
The whole head is sick,
and the whole heart faint.
6 cFrom the sole of the foot even to the head,
there is no soundness in it,
but bruises and sores
and raw wounds;
they are dnot pressed out or bound up
or softened with oil.
7 eYour country lies desolate;
your cities are burned with fire;
in your very presence
foreigners devour your land;
it is desolate, as overthrown by foreigners.
8And fthe daughter of Zion is left
like a gbooth in a vineyard,
like a lodge in a cucumber field,
like a besieged city.
9 hIf the Lord of hosts
had not left us ia few survivors,
we should have been like jSodom,
and become like kGomorrah.
10 Hear the word of the Lord,
you rulers of l, mSodom!
Give ear to the teaching
Or law
of our God,
you people of oGomorrah!
11 pWhat to me is the multitude of your sacrifices?
says the Lord;
I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams
and the fat of well-fed beasts;
I do not delight in the blood of bulls,
or of lambs, or of goats.
12 “When you come to qappear before me,
who has required of you
this trampling of my courts?
13Bring no more vain offerings;
incense is an abomination to me.
rNew moon and Sabbath and the scalling of convocations
I cannot endure tiniquity and usolemn assembly.
14Your vnew moons and your appointed feasts
my soul hates;
they have become a burden to me;
I am weary of bearing them.
15When you wspread out your hands,
I will hide my eyes from you;
xeven though you make many prayers,
I will not listen;
yyour hands are full of blood.

Isaiah 1:21-24

The Unfaithful City

21 How the faithful city
zhas become a whore,
Or  become unchaste

abshe who was full of justice!
Righteousness lodged in her,
but now murderers.
22 acYour silver has become dross,
your best wine mixed with water.
23Your princes are rebels
and companions of thieves.
Everyone adloves a bribe
and runs after gifts.
aeThey do not bring justice to the fatherless,
and the widow’s cause does not come to them.
24 Therefore the afLord declares,
the Lord of hosts,
the agMighty One of Israel:
Ah, I will get relief from my enemies
ahand avenge myself on my foes.

Jeremiah 5:29-31

29 aiShall I not punish them for these things?

declares the Lord,
and shall I not avenge myself
on a nation such as this?”
30 An appalling and ajhorrible thing
has happened in the land:
31 akthe prophets prophesy falsely,
and the priests rule at their direction;
almy people love to have it so,
but what will you do when the end comes?

Zechariah 1:3-6

3Therefore say to them, Thus declares the Lord of hosts: amReturn to me, says the Lord of hosts, and anI will return to you, says the Lord of hosts. 4 aoDo not be like your fathers, apto whom the former prophets cried out, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, aqReturn from your evil ways and from your evil deeds.’ But arthey did not hear or pay attention to me, declares the Lord. 5Your fathers, where are they? And asthe prophets, do they live forever? 6 atBut my words and my statutes, which I commanded aumy servants the prophets, did they not avovertake your fathers? So they repented and said, aw‘As the Lord of hosts purposed to deal with us for axour ways and aydeeds, so has he dealt with us.’”
