Jeremiah 4:19-20

Anguish over Judah’s Desolation

19 cMy anguish, my anguish! I writhe in pain!
Oh the walls of my heart!
My heart is beating wildly;
I cannot keep silent,
for I hear the sound of the trumpet,
the alarm of war.
20 dCrash follows hard on crash;
the whole land is laid waste.
eSuddenly my tents are laid waste,
my curtains in a moment.

Jeremiah 4:31

31For I heard fa cry as of a woman in labor,
anguish as of one giving birth to her first child,
the cry of the daughter of Zion gasping for breath,
gstretching out her hands,
Woe is me! I am fainting before murderers.”

Jeremiah 6:26

26O daughter of my people, hput on sackcloth,
and iroll in ashes;
jmake mourning as for an only son,
most bitter lamentation,
for suddenly the destroyer
will come upon us.

Jeremiah 9:20-21

20 Hear, O women, the word of the Lord,
and let your ear receive the word of his mouth;
teach to your daughters a lament,
and each to her neighbor a dirge.
21For death has come up into our windows;
it has entered our palaces,
kcutting off the children from the streets
and the young men from the squares.

Jeremiah 25:34-36

34 lWail, myou shepherds, and cry out,
nand roll in ashes, you lords of the flock,
for the days of your slaughter and dispersion have come,
and you shall fall like a choice vessel.
35No refuge will remain ofor the shepherds,
nor escape for the lords of the flock.
36A voice—the cry pof the shepherds,
qand the wail of the lords of the flock!
For the Lord is laying waste their pasture,

Jeremiah 47:2-3

2 Thus says the Lord:
rBehold, waters are rising sout of the north,
tand shall become an overflowing torrent;
they shall overflow uthe land and all that fills it,
the city and those who dwell in it.
Men shall cry out,
and every inhabitant of the land shall wail.
3At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his stallions,
vat the rushing of his chariots, at the rumbling of their wheels,
the fathers wlook not back to their children,
so feeble are their hands,

Jeremiah 48:3-5

3 “A voice! A cry from xHoronaim,
Desolation and great destruction!’
4Moab is destroyed;
her little ones have made a cry.
5 yFor at the ascent of Luhith
they go up weeping;
Hebrew weeping goes up with weeping

for aaat the descent of Horonaim
they have heard the distressed cry
Septuagint (compare Isaiah 15:5)  heard the cry
of destruction.
