Isaiah 12

The Lord Is My Strength and My Song

1 You
The Hebrew for  you is singular in verse 1
will say bin that day:
“I will give thanks to you, O Lord,
for though you were angry with me,
cyour anger turned away,
that you might comfort me.
2 Behold, God is my salvation;
I will trust, and will not be afraid;
for dthe Lord God
Hebrew  for Yah, the Lord
is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation.”
3 fWith joy you
The Hebrew for  you is plural in verses 3, 4
will draw water from the wells of salvation.
4 hAnd you will say in that day:

i“Give thanks to the Lord,
call upon his name,
jmake known his deeds among the peoples,
proclaim kthat his name is exalted.
5 l“Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously;
let this be made known
Or this is made known
in all the earth.
6Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Zion,
for great nin your
The Hebrew for  your in verse 6 is singular, referring to the  inhabitant of Zion
midst is pthe Holy One of Israel.”

Isaiah 35:10

10 qAnd the ransomed of the Lord shall return
and come to Zion with singing;
reverlasting joy shall be upon their heads;
they shall obtain gladness and joy,
and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

Isaiah 51:11

11 sAnd the ransomed of the Lord shall return
and come to Zion with singing;
everlasting joy shall be upon their heads;
they shall obtain gladness and joy,
and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

Jeremiah 31:4

4 tAgain I will build you, and you shall be built,
O virgin Israel!
uAgain you shall adorn yourself with tambourines
and shall go forth in vthe dance of the merrymakers.

Jeremiah 33:9-11

9 wAnd this city
Hebrew  And it
shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and a glory before all the nations of the earth who shall hear of all the good that I do for them. They shall yfear and tremble because of all the good and all the prosperity I provide for it.

10Thus says the Lord: In this place zof which you say, ‘It is a waste without man or beast,’ in the cities of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem that are desolate, without man or inhabitant or beast, there shall be heard again 11 aathe voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voices of those who sing, as they bring abthank offerings to the house of the Lord:

for the Lord is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever!’
adFor I will restore the fortunes of the land as at first, says the Lord.
