Isaiah 13:2-4

2 On a bare hill araise a signal;
cry aloud to them;
wave the hand for bthem to enter
the gates of the nobles.
3I myself have commanded my consecrated ones,
and have summoned my mighty men to execute my anger,
my proudly exulting ones.
Or those who exult in my majesty

4 The sound dof a tumult is on the mountains
as of a great multitude!
The sound of an uproar of kingdoms,
of nations gathering together!
eThe Lord of hosts is mustering
a host for battle.

Isaiah 21:7-9

7When he sees riders, horsemen in pairs,
riders on donkeys, riders on camels,
let him listen diligently,
very diligently.”
8Then he who saw cried out:

Isaiah 41:2

2 kWho stirred up one from the east
whom victory meets at every lstep?
Or  whom righteousness calls to follow?

nHe gives up nations before him,
so that he tramples kings underfoot;
he makes them like dust with his sword,
olike driven stubble with his bow.

Isaiah 41:25

25 pI stirred up one from the north, and he has come,
qfrom the rising of the sun, rand he shall call upon my name;
he shall trample on rulers as on mortar,
as the potter treads clay.

Cyrus, God’s Instrument

1 Thus says the Lord to shis anointed, to Cyrus,
twhose right hand I have grasped,
to subdue nations before him
and uto loose the belts of kings,
to open doors before him
that gates may not be closed:
2I will go before you

besides me there is no God;

Jeremiah 50:29

29 afSummon archers against Babylon, all those who bend the bow. agEncamp around her; let no one escape. ahRepay her according to her deeds; do to her according to all that she has done. For she has aiproudly defied the Lord, the Holy One of Israel.

Jeremiah 51:20-29

20 “You are my hammer and weapon of war:
with you I ajbreak nations in pieces;
with you I destroy kingdoms;
21with you I break in pieces the horse and his rider;
with you I break in pieces the chariot and the charioteer;
22with you I break in pieces man and woman;
with you I break in pieces akthe old man and the youth;
with you I break in pieces althe young man and the young woman;
23with you I break in pieces the shepherd and his flock;
with you I break in pieces the farmer and his team;
with you I break in pieces amgovernors and commanders.
24 an“I will repay Babylon and all the inhabitants of Chaldea before your very eyes for all the evil that they have done in Zion, declares the Lord.

25 Behold, I am against you, O destroying mountain,

declares the Lord,
which destroys the whole earth;
I will stretch out my hand against you,
and roll you down from the crags,
aoand make you a burnt mountain.
26No apstone shall be taken from you for a corner
and no stone for a foundation,
but you shall be aqa perpetual waste,
declares the Lord.
27 ar“Set up a standard on the earth;
asblow the trumpet among the nations;
atprepare authe nations for war against her;
summon against her avthe kingdoms,
awArarat, Minni, and axAshkenaz;
appoint a aymarshal against her;
azbring up horses like bristling locusts.
28 baPrepare bbthe nations for war against her,
the kings of bcthe Medes, bdwith their governors beand deputies,
and every bfland under their dominion.
29 bgThe land trembles and writhes in pain,
bhfor the Lord’s purposes against Babylon stand,
to make the land of Babylon a desolation,
without inhabitant.
