Isaiah 14:18-20

18All the kings of the nations lie in glory,
each in his own tomb;
Hebrew house

19but you are cast out, away from your grave,
like a loathed branch,
bclothed with the slain, those pierced by the sword,
who go down to the stones of the pit,
like a dead body trampled underfoot.
20You will not be joined with them in burial,
because you have destroyed your land,
you have slain your people.
“May cthe offspring of evildoers
nevermore be named!

Isaiah 21:2-9

2A stern vision is told to me;
dthe traitor betrays,
and the destroyer destroys.
Go up, O eElam;
lay siege, O fMedia;
all the gsighing she has caused
I bring to an end.
3Therefore my loins are filled with anguish;
hpangs have seized me,
like the pangs of a woman in labor;
I am bowed down so that I cannot hear;
I am dismayed so that I cannot see.
4My heart staggers; horror has appalled me;
ithe twilight I longed for
has been turned for me into trembling.
5 jThey prepare the table,
they spread the rugs,
Or  they set the watchman

they eat, they drink.
Arise, O princes;
loil the shield!
6For thus the Lord said to me:
Go, set a watchman;
let him announce what he sees.
7When he sees riders, horsemen in pairs,
riders on donkeys, riders on camels,
let him listen diligently,
very diligently.”
8Then he who saw cried out:

nUpon a watchtower I stand, O Lord,
continually by day,
and at my post I am stationed
whole nights.
9And behold, here come riders,
horsemen in pairs!”
oAnd he answered,
pFallen, fallen is Babylon;
qand all the carved images of her gods
he has shattered to the ground.”

Jeremiah 50:29-35

29 rSummon archers against Babylon, all those who bend the bow. sEncamp around her; let no one escape. tRepay her according to her deeds; do to her according to all that she has done. For she has uproudly defied the Lord, the Holy One of Israel. 30 vTherefore her young men shall fall in her squares, and all her soldiers shall be destroyed on that day, declares the Lord.

31 Behold, I am against you, O wproud one,
declares the Lord God of hosts,
xfor your day has come,
the time when I will punish you.
32 yThe proud one shall stumble and fall,
with none to raise him up,
zand I will kindle a fire in his cities,
and it will devour all that is around him.
33Thus says the Lord of hosts: aaThe people of Israel are oppressed, and the people of Judah with them. All who took them captive have held them fast; abthey refuse to let them go. 34 acTheir Redeemer is strong; adthe Lord of hosts is his name. aeHe will surely plead their cause, that he may give rest to the earth, but unrest to the inhabitants of Babylon.

35 “A sword against the Chaldeans, declares the Lord,
and against the inhabitants of Babylon,
and against afher officials and her agwise men!

Jeremiah 51:57

57 ahI will make drunk her officials and her wise men,
aiher governors, her commanders, and her warriors;
they shall sleep a perpetual sleep and not wake,
declares ajthe King, whose name is the Lord of hosts.
