Isaiah 14:29-31

29 Rejoice not, aO Philistia, all of you,
that bthe rod that struck you is broken,
for from the serpent’s root will come forth an adder,
and its fruit will be a cflying fiery serpent.
30And the firstborn of dthe poor will graze,
and ethe needy lie down in safety;
but I will kill your root with famine,
and your remnant it will slay.
31 fWail, O ggate; cry out, O city;
melt in fear, hO Philistia, all of you!
iFor smoke comes out of the north,
and there is no straggler in his ranks.

1The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet pconcerning the Philistines, before Pharaoh struck down qGaza.

2 Thus says the Lord:
rBehold, waters are rising sout of the north,
tand shall become an overflowing torrent;
they shall overflow uthe land and all that fills it,
the city and those who dwell in it.
Men shall cry out,
and every inhabitant of the land shall wail.
3At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his stallions,
vat the rushing of his chariots, at the rumbling of their wheels,
the fathers wlook not back to their children,
so feeble are their hands,
4because of the day that is coming to destroy
all xthe Philistines,
to cut off from yTyre and Sidon
every helper that remains.
For the Lord is destroying the Philistines,
zthe remnant of the coastland of aaCaphtor.
5 abBaldness has come upon Gaza;
acAshkelon has perished.
O remnant of their valley,
adhow long will you gash yourselves?
6 aeAh, sword of the Lord!
How long till you are quiet?
Put yourself into your scabbard;
rest and be still!
7How can it
Septuagint, Vulgate; Hebrew you
be quiet
agwhen the Lord has given it a charge?
Against ahAshkelon and against the seashore
aihe has appointed it.”

Ezekiel 25:6

Ezekiel 25:12

Prophecy Against Edom

12Thus says the Lord God: Because anEdom acted revengefully against the house of Judah and has grievously offended aoin taking vengeance on them,

Joel 3:4-21

4What are you to me, apO Tyre and Sidon, and all aqthe regions of Philistia? Are you paying me back for something? If you are paying me back, arI will return your payment on your own head swiftly and speedily. 5For asyou have taken my silver and my gold, and have carried my rich treasures into your temples.
Or palaces
6You have sold authe people of Judah and Jerusalem to the Greeks in order to remove them far from their own border. 7Behold, I will stir them up from the place to which you have sold them, and avI will return your payment on your own head. 8I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the people of Judah, and they will sell them to the awSabeans, to a nation far away, for the Lord has spoken.”

9 Proclaim this among the nations:
axConsecrate for war;
Or  Consecrate a war

stir up the mighty men.
Let all the men of war draw near;
let them come up.
10 azBeat your plowshares into swords,
and bayour pruning hooks into spears;
let the weak say, “I am a warrior.”
11 bbHasten and come,
all you surrounding nations,
and gather yourselves there.
bcBring down your warriors, O Lord.
12Let the nations stir themselves up
and come up to bdthe Valley of Jehoshaphat;
befor there I will sit to judge
all the surrounding nations.
13 bfPut in the sickle,
bgfor the harvest is ripe.
bhGo in, tread,
bifor the winepress is full.
The vats overflow,
for their evil is great.
14 Multitudes, multitudes,
in the valley of decision!
For bjthe day of the Lord is near
in the valley of decision.
15 bkThe sun and the moon are darkened,
and the stars withdraw their shining.
16 blThe Lord roars from Zion,
and bmutters his voice from Jerusalem,
bnand the heavens and the earth quake.
But the Lord is boa refuge to his people,
a stronghold to the people of Israel.

The Glorious Future of Judah

17 bp“So you shall know that I am the Lord your God,
bqwho dwells in Zion, brmy holy mountain.
And Jerusalem shall be holy,
and bsstrangers shall never again pass through it.
18 “And in that day
btthe mountains shall drip sweet wine,
and the hills shall flow with milk,
and buall the streambeds of Judah
shall flow with water;
bvand a fountain shall come forth from the house of the Lord
and water the Valley of bwShittim.
19 bxEgypt shall become a desolation
and byEdom a desolate wilderness,
bzfor the violence done to the people of Judah,
because they have shed innocent blood in their land.
20 caBut Judah shall be inhabited forever,
and Jerusalem to all generations.
21 cbI will avenge their blood,
blood I have not avenged,
Or  I will acquit their bloodguilt that I have not acquitted

cdfor the Lord dwells in Zion.”

and folds for flocks.
7 cnThe seacoast shall become the possession
of cothe remnant of the house of Judah,
cpon which they shall graze,
and in the houses of Ashkelon
they shall lie down at evening.
For the Lord their God cqwill be mindful of them
and crrestore their fortunes.
