Jeremiah 47:1

Judgment on the Philistines

1 The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet ^jconcerning the Philistines, before Pharaoh struck down ^kGaza.

Jeremiah 47:4-7

4 because of the day that is coming to destroy
all ^lthe Philistines,
to cut off from ^mTyre and Sidon
every helper that remains.
For the Lord is destroying the Philistines,
ⁿthe remnant of the coastland of ^oCaphtor.
5 ^pBaldness has come upon Gaza;
^qAshkelon has perished.
O remnant of their valley,
^rhow long will you gash yourselves?
6 ^sAh, sword of the Lord!
How long till you are quiet?
Put yourself into your scabbard;
rest and be still!
7 How can it ^{▼▼Septuagint, Vulgate; Hebrew you} be quiet
^uwhen the Lord has given it a charge?
Against ^vAshkelon and against the seashore
^whe has appointed it.”

Ezekiel 25:15-17

Prophecy Against Philistia

15 “Thus says the Lord God: Because ^xthe Philistines ^yacted revengefully and took vengeance ^zwith malice of soul to destroy in never-ending enmity, 16 therefore thus says the Lord God, ^aaBehold, I will stretch out my hand against the Philistines, and I will cut off ^abthe Cherethites and destroy the rest of the seacoast. 17 I will execute great vengeance on them ^acwith wrathful rebukes. ^adThen they will know that I am the Lord, when I lay my vengeance upon them.”

Zephaniah 2:4-7

4 ^aeFor Gaza shall be deserted,
and Ashkelon shall become a desolation;
Ashdod’s people shall be driven out at noon,
and Ekron shall be uprooted.
5 Woe to ^afyou inhabitants of the seacoast,
you nation of ^agthe Cherethites!
^ahThe word of the Lord is against you,
^aiO Canaan, land of the Philistines;
and I will destroy you ^ajuntil no inhabitant is left.
6 ^akAnd you, O seacoast, ^alshall be pastures,
with meadows ^{▼▼Or caves} for shepherds
and folds for flocks.
7 ^anThe seacoast shall become the possession
of ^aothe remnant of the house of Judah,
^apon which they shall graze,
and in the houses of Ashkelon
they shall lie down at evening.
For the Lord their God ^aqwill be mindful of them
and ^arrestore their fortunes.

Acts 8:26

Philip and the Ethiopian Eunuch

26 Now ^asan angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Rise and go toward the south ^{▼▼Or go at about noon} to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is a desert place.
