Isaiah 14:9-13

9Sheol beneath is stirred up
to meet you when you come;
it rouses the shades to greet you,
all who were leaders of the earth;
it raises from their thrones
all who were kings of the nations.
10 aAll of them will answer
and say to you:
You too have become as weak as we!
You have become like us!’
11Your pomp is brought down to Sheol,
the sound of your harps;
maggots are laid as a bed beneath you,
and worms are your covers.
12 How byou are fallen from heaven,
O Day Star, cson of Dawn!
How you are cut down to the ground,
you who laid the nations low!
13You said in your heart,
d‘I will ascend to heaven;
above the stars of God
eI will set my throne on high;
I will sit on the mount of assembly
in the far reaches of the north;
Or  in the remote parts of Zaphon

Isaiah 23:1-8

An Oracle Concerning Tyre and Sidon

1The goracle concerning hTyre.

Wail, O iships of Tarshish,
for Tyre is laid waste, jwithout house or harbor!
From kthe land of Cyprus
Hebrew Kittim; also verse 12

it is revealed to them.
2Be still, O inhabitants of the coast;
the merchants of mSidon, who cross the sea, have filled you.
3And on many waters
your revenue was the grain of Shihor,
the harvest of the Nile;
you were nthe merchant of the nations.
4Be ashamed, O oSidon, for the sea has spoken,
the stronghold of the sea, saying:
“I have neither labored nor given birth,
I have neither reared young men
nor brought up young women.”
5When the report comes to Egypt,
they will be in anguish
Hebrew  they will have labor pains
over the report about Tyre.
6 qCross over to Tarshish;
wail, O inhabitants of the coast!
7Is this your exultant city
rwhose origin is from days of old,
whose feet carried her
to settle far away?
8Who has purposed this
against Tyre, the bestower of crowns,
whose merchants were princes,
whose traders were the honored of the earth?

Ezekiel 27:29-36

29and down from their ships
scome all who handle the oar.
The mariners and all the pilots of the sea
stand on the land
30 tand shout aloud over you
and cry out bitterly.
uThey cast dust on their heads
vand wallow in ashes;
31they wmake themselves bald for you
and put sackcloth on their waist,
and they weep over you in bitterness of soul,
with bitter mourning.
32In their wailing they xraise a lamentation for you
and lament over you:
yWho is like Tyre,
like one destroyed in the midst of the sea?
33When your wares came from the seas,
zyou satisfied many peoples;
with your abundant wealth and merchandise
aayou enriched the kings of the earth.
34Now abyou are wrecked by the seas,
in the depths of the waters;
your merchandise and all your crew in your midst
have sunk with you.
35 acAll the inhabitants of the coastlands
are appalled at you,
and adthe hair of their kings bristles with horror;
their faces are convulsed.
36 aeThe merchants among the peoples afhiss at you;
agyou have come to a dreadful end
and shall be no more forever.’”

Ezekiel 32:21-32

21The mighty chiefs ahshall speak of them, aiwith their helpers, out of the midst of Sheol: ‘They have come down, they lie still, ajthe uncircumcised, akslain by the sword.’

22 alAssyria is there, and all her company, amits graves all around it, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, 23whose graves are set in anthe uttermost parts of the pit; and her company is all around her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, aowho spread terror apin the land of the living.

24 aqElam is arthere, and all her multitude around her grave; all of them asslain, fallen by the sword, who went down uncircumcised into atthe world below, who spread their terror in the land of the living; and authey bear their shame avwith those who go down to the pit. 25 awThey have made her a bed among the slain with all her multitude, axher graves all around it, all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword; for terror of them was spread in the land of the living, and they bear their shame with those who go down to the pit; they are placed among the slain.

26 ayMeshech-Tubal is azthere, and all her multitude, baher graves all around it, all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword; for they spread their terror in the land of the living. 27And bbthey do not lie with the mighty, the fallen from among the uncircumcised, who went down to Sheol with their weapons of war, whose swords were laid under their heads, and whose iniquities are upon their bones; for the terror of the mighty men was in the land of the living. 28But as for you, you shall be broken bcand lie among the uncircumcised, with those who are slain by the sword.

29 bdEdom is bethere, her kings and all her princes, who for all their might are laid with those who are killed by the sword; they lie with the uncircumcised, with those who go down to the pit.

30“The princes bfof the north are there, all of them, and all the bgSidonians, who have gone down in shame with the slain, bhfor all the terror that they caused by their might; they lie uncircumcised with those who are slain by the sword, and bibear their shame with those who go down to the pit.

31“When Pharaoh sees them, he bjwill be comforted for bkall his multitude, Pharaoh and all his army, slain by the sword, declares the Lord God. 32 blFor I spread terror bmin the land of the living; and he shall be laid to rest among bnthe uncircumcised, with those who are slain by the sword, Pharaoh and all his multitude, declares the Lord God.”

Revelation of John 18:11-19

11And bothe merchants of the earth weep and mourn for her, since no one buys their cargo anymore, 12cargo of gold, silver, jewels, pearls, fine linen, purple cloth, silk, scarlet cloth, all kinds of scented wood, all kinds of articles of ivory, all kinds of articles of costly wood, bronze, iron and marble, 13cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh, frankincense, wine, oil, fine flour, wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and slaves, that is, human souls.
Or  and slaves, and human lives

14 “The fruit for which your soul longed
has gone from you,
and all your delicacies and your splendors
are lost to you,
never to be found again!”
15 bqThe merchants of these wares, who gained wealth from her, brwill stand far off, in fear of her torment, weeping and mourning aloud,

16 Alas, alas, for the great city
bsthat was clothed in fine linen,
in purple and scarlet,
adorned with gold,
with jewels, and with pearls!
17For btin a single hour all this wealth buhas been laid waste.”
And bvall shipmasters and seafaring men, sailors and all whose trade is on the sea, stood far off
18and bwcried out bxas they saw the smoke of her burning,

byWhat city was like the great city?”
19And they threw bzdust on their heads as they wept and mourned, crying out,

Alas, alas, for the great city
cawhere all who had ships at sea
grew rich by her wealth!
For cbin a single hour she has been laid waste.
