An Oracle Concerning Moab

1An aoracle concerning bMoab.

Because cAr of Moab is laid waste in a night,
Moab is undone;
because dKir of Moab is laid waste in a night,
Moab is undone.

Isaiah 24:8-11

8 eThe mirth of the tambourines is stilled,
the noise of the jubilant has ceased,
the mirth of the lyre is stilled.
9No more do they drink wine fwith singing;
strong drink is bitter to those who drink it.
10 gThe wasted city is broken down;
hevery house is shut up so that none can enter.
11 iThere is an outcry in the streets for lack of wine;
jall joy has grown dark;
the gladness of the earth is banished.

Isaiah 47:5

5 kSit in silence, and go into darkness,
O daughter of lthe Chaldeans;
for you shall no more be called
mthe mistress of kingdoms.

Jeremiah 25:10

10Moreover, nI will banish from them the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, othe grinding of the millstones and pthe light of the lamp.

Jeremiah 50:10-15

10 qChaldea shall be plundered; all who plunder her shall be sated, declares the Lord.

11 rThough you rejoice, though you exult,
O plunderers of my heritage,
though you frolic like a heifer in the pasture,
and neigh like stallions,
12your mother shall be utterly shamed,
and she who bore you shall be disgraced.
Behold, she shall be the last of the nations,
sa wilderness, a dry land, and a desert.
13 tBecause of the wrath of the Lord she shall not be inhabited
but shall be an utter desolation;
ueveryone who passes by Babylon shall be appalled,
vand hiss because of all her wounds.
14 wSet yourselves in array against Babylon all around,
xall you who bend the bow;
shoot at her, spare no arrows,
yfor she has sinned against the Lord.
15 zRaise a shout against her all around;
she has surrendered;
her bulwarks have fallen;
aaher walls are thrown down.
For abthis is the vengeance of the Lord:
take vengeance on her;
acdo to her as she has done.

Jeremiah 51:38-39

they shall growl like lionscubs.
39 afWhile they are inflamed agI will prepare them a feast
and ahmake them drunk, that they may become merry,
aithen sleep a perpetual sleep
and not wake, declares the Lord.

Revelation of John 18:22-23

will be heard in you no more,
and a craftsman of any craft
will be found in you no more,

will shine in you no more,

and all nations were deceived anby your sorcery.
