Isaiah 20:5

5 aThen they shall be dismayed and ashamed because of Cush their hope and of Egypt their boast.

Isaiah 30:1-6

Do Not Go Down to Egypt

1 Ah, bstubborn children,” declares the Lord,
c“who carry out a plan, but not mine,
and who make dan alliance,
Hebrew  who weave a web
but not of my Spirit,
that they may add sin to sin;
2 fwho set out to go down to Egypt,
without asking for my direction,
to take refuge in the protection of Pharaoh
and to seek shelter in the shadow of Egypt!
3 gTherefore shall the protection of Pharaoh turn to your shame,
and the shelter in the shadow of Egypt to your humiliation.
4For though his officials are at hZoan
and ihis envoys reach jHanes,
5everyone comes to shame
through ka people that cannot profit them,
that brings neither help nor profit,
but shame and disgrace.”
6An loracle on mthe beasts of nthe Negeb.

Through a land of trouble and anguish,
from where come the lioness and the lion,
the adder and the oflying fiery serpent,
they carry their riches on the backs of donkeys,
and their treasures on the humps of camels,
to a people that cannot profit them.

Isaiah 31:1-3

Woe to Those Who Go Down to Egypt

1 Woe to pthose who go down to Egypt for help
and rely on horses,
who qtrust in chariots because they are many
and in horsemen because they are very strong,
but rdo not look to the Holy One of Israel
or consult the Lord!
2And syet he is wise and brings disaster;
the does not call back his words,
but uwill arise against the house of the evildoers
and against the helpers of vthose who work iniquity.
3The Egyptians are man, and not God,
and their horses ware flesh, and not spirit.
When the Lord stretches out his hand,
the helper will stumble, and he who is helped will fall,
and they will all perish together.

Isaiah 36:4-6

4And the Rabshakeh said to them, “Say to Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the xgreat king, the king of Assyria: On what do you rest this trust of yours? 5Do you think that mere words are strategy and power for war? In whom do you now trust, that you have rebelled against me? 6 yBehold, you are trusting in Egypt, that broken reed of a staff, which will pierce the hand of any man who leans on it. Such is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust in him.

Jeremiah 2:18-19

18 zAnd now what do you gain by going to Egypt
to drink the waters of aathe Nile?
abOr what do you gain by going to Assyria
to drink the waters of acthe Euphrates?

Jeremiah 2:36-37

36 aiHow much you go about,
changing your way!
You shall be ajput to shame by Egypt
as you were put to shame by Assyria.

for the Lord has rejected those in whom you trust,
and you will not prosper by them.

Ezekiel 17:15-17

15 alBut he rebelled against him by sending his ambassadors amto Egypt, that they might give him horses and a large army. anWill he thrive? Can one escape who does such things? Can he aobreak the covenant and yet escape?

16 ap“As I live, declares the Lord God, surely aqin the place where the king dwells arwho made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant with him he broke, in Babylon he shall die. 17 asPharaoh with his mighty army and great company will not help him in war, atwhen mounds are cast up and siege walls built to cut off many lives.

Ezekiel 29:6-7

6Then all the inhabitants of Egypt aushall know that I am the Lord.

have been awa staff of reed to the house of Israel,
7 axwhen they grasped you with the hand, you broke and tore all their shoulders; and when they leaned on you, you broke and made all their loins to shake.
