Isaiah 31:1-3

Woe to Those Who Go Down to Egypt

1 Woe to fthose who go down to Egypt for help
and rely on horses,
who gtrust in chariots because they are many
and in horsemen because they are very strong,
but hdo not look to the Holy One of Israel
or consult the Lord!
2And iyet he is wise and brings disaster;
jhe does not call back his words,
but kwill arise against the house of the evildoers
and against the helpers of lthose who work iniquity.
3The Egyptians are man, and not God,
and their horses mare flesh, and not spirit.
When the Lord stretches out his hand,
the helper will stumble, and he who is helped will fall,
and they will all perish together.

6 pHe is like a shrub in the desert,
qand shall not see any good come.
He shall dwell in the parched places of the wilderness,
in ran uninhabited salt land.

Jeremiah 42:14-16

Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: vIf you set your faces to enter Egypt wand go to live there, 16then the sword xthat you fear shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt, and the famine of which you are afraid shall follow close after you to Egypt, yand there you shall die.
