An Oracle Concerning Tyre and Sidon

1The aoracle concerning bTyre.

Wail, O cships of Tarshish,
for Tyre is laid waste, dwithout house or harbor!
From ethe land of Cyprus
Hebrew Kittim; also verse 12

it is revealed to them.

Isaiah 23:6

6 gCross over to Tarshish;
wail, O inhabitants of the coast!

Ezekiel 27:25-30

25 hThe ships of iTarshish traveled for you with your merchandise. So you were filled and heavily laden jin the heart of the seas.

26 “Your rowers have brought you out
into the high seas.
kThe east wind has wrecked you
in the heart of the seas.
27Your riches, your wares, your merchandise,
your mariners and lyour pilots,
myour caulkers, your dealers in merchandise,
and all your men of war who are in you,
with all your crew
that is in your midst,
sink into the heart of the seas
non the day of your fall.
28At the sound of the cry of your pilots
othe countryside shakes,
29and down from their ships
pcome all who handle the oar.
The mariners and all the pilots of the sea
stand on the land
30 qand shout aloud over you
and cry out bitterly.
rThey cast dust on their heads
sand wallow in ashes;

Revelation of John 18:11-19

11And tthe merchants of the earth weep and mourn for her, since no one buys their cargo anymore, 12cargo of gold, silver, jewels, pearls, fine linen, purple cloth, silk, scarlet cloth, all kinds of scented wood, all kinds of articles of ivory, all kinds of articles of costly wood, bronze, iron and marble, 13cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh, frankincense, wine, oil, fine flour, wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and slaves, that is, human souls.

and all your delicacies and your splendors

15 vThe merchants of these wares, who gained wealth from her, wwill stand far off, in fear of her torment, weeping and mourning aloud,

16 Alas, alas, for the great city
xthat was clothed in fine linen,
in purple and scarlet,
adorned with gold,
with jewels, and with pearls!
17For yin a single hour all this wealth zhas been laid waste.”
And aaall shipmasters and seafaring men, sailors and all whose trade is on the sea, stood far off
18and abcried out acas they saw the smoke of her burning,

adWhat city was like the great city?”
19And they threw aedust on their heads as they wept and mourned, crying out,

Alas, alas, for the great city
afwhere all who had ships at sea
grew rich by her wealth!
For agin a single hour she has been laid waste.
