Isaiah 23:3-8

3And on many waters
your revenue was the grain of Shihor,
the harvest of the Nile;
you were athe merchant of the nations.
4Be ashamed, O bSidon, for the sea has spoken,
the stronghold of the sea, saying:
“I have neither labored nor given birth,
I have neither reared young men
nor brought up young women.”
5When the report comes to Egypt,
they will be in anguish
Hebrew  they will have labor pains
over the report about Tyre.
6 dCross over to Tarshish;
wail, O inhabitants of the coast!
7Is this your exultant city
ewhose origin is from days of old,
whose feet carried her
to settle far away?
8Who has purposed this
against Tyre, the bestower of crowns,
whose merchants were princes,
whose traders were the honored of the earth?

Ezekiel 27:3

3and say to Tyre, who dwells at fthe entrances to the sea, gmerchant of the peoples to many coastlands, thus says the Lord God:

“O Tyre, you have said,
I am hperfect in beauty.’

20Dedan traded with you in saddlecloths for riding. 21Arabia and all the princes of ahKedar were your favored dealers aiin lambs, rams, and goats; in these they did business with you. 22The traders of ajSheba and akRaamah traded with you; they exchanged alfor your wares amthe best of all kinds of spices and all precious stones and gold. 23 anHaran, Canneh, aoEden, traders of Sheba, apAsshur, and Chilmad traded with you. 24In your market these traded with you in choice garments, in clothes of aqblue and arembroidered work, and in carpets of colored material, bound with cords and made secure. 25 asThe ships of atTarshish traveled for you with your merchandise. So you were filled and heavily laden auin the heart of the seas.

26 “Your rowers have brought you out
into the high seas.
avThe east wind has wrecked you
in the heart of the seas.
27Your riches, your wares, your merchandise,
your mariners and awyour pilots,
axyour caulkers, your dealers in merchandise,
and all your men of war who are in you,
with all your crew
that is in your midst,
sink into the heart of the seas
ayon the day of your fall.
28At the sound of the cry of your pilots
azthe countryside shakes,
29and down from their ships
bacome all who handle the oar.
The mariners and all the pilots of the sea
stand on the land
30 bband shout aloud over you
and cry out bitterly.
bcThey cast dust on their heads
bdand wallow in ashes;
31they bemake themselves bald for you
and put sackcloth on their waist,
and they weep over you in bitterness of soul,
with bitter mourning.
32In their wailing they bfraise a lamentation for you
and lament over you:
bgWho is like Tyre,
like one destroyed in the midst of the sea?
33When your wares came from the seas,
bhyou satisfied many peoples;
with your abundant wealth and merchandise
biyou enriched the kings of the earth.
34Now bjyou are wrecked by the seas,
in the depths of the waters;
your merchandise and all your crew in your midst
have sunk with you.
35 bkAll the inhabitants of the coastlands
are appalled at you,
and blthe hair of their kings bristles with horror;
their faces are convulsed.
36 bmThe merchants among the peoples bnhiss at you;
boyou have come to a dreadful end
and shall be no more forever.’”
