Isaiah 24:1-5

Judgment on the Whole Earth

1 Behold, athe Lord will empty the earth
Or land; also throughout this chapter
and make it desolate,
and he will twist its surface and scatter its inhabitants.
2 cAnd it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest;
as with the slave, so with his master;
as with the maid, so with her mistress;
das with the buyer, so with the seller;
as with the lender, so with the borrower;
eas with the creditor, so with the debtor.
3 fThe earth shall be utterly empty and utterly plundered;
gfor the Lord has spoken this word.
4 hThe earth mourns and withers;
the world languishes and withers;
the highest people of the earth languish.
5The earth lies idefiled
under its inhabitants;
for jthey have transgressed the laws,
violated the statutes,
broken the everlasting covenant.

Isaiah 34:4-10

4 kAll the host of heaven shall rot away,
and the skies roll up like a scroll.
All their host shall fall,
as leaves fall from the vine,
like leaves falling from the fig tree.
5 For my sword has drunk its fill in the heavens;
behold, it descends for judgment upon lEdom,
upon the people mI have devoted to destruction.
6The Lord has a sword; it is sated with blood;
it is gorged with fat,
with the blood of lambs and goats,
with the fat of the kidneys of rams.
nFor the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah,
a great slaughter in the land of Edom.
7 oWild oxen shall pfall with them,
and qyoung steers with rthe mighty bulls.
Their land shall drink its fill of blood,
and their soil shall be gorged with fat.
8 sFor the Lord has a day of vengeance,
a year of recompense for the cause of Zion.
9 tAnd the streams of Edom
Hebrew her streams
shall be turned into pitch,
and her soil into sulfur;
her land shall become burning pitch.
10Night and day vit shall not be quenched;
wits smoke shall go up forever.
xFrom generation to generation it shall lie waste;
none shall pass through it forever and ever.

Jeremiah 4:23-28

23 I looked on the earth, and behold, it was ywithout form and void;
zand to the heavens, and they had no light.
24I looked on aathe mountains, and behold, they were quaking,
and all the hills moved to and fro.
25 abI looked, and behold, there was no man,
and all the birds of the air had fled.
26I looked, and behold, the acfruitful land was a desert,
and all its cities were laid in ruins
before the Lord, before adhis fierce anger.
27For thus says the Lord, “The whole land shall be a desolation; aeyet I will not make a full end.

28 afFor this the earth shall mourn,
agand the heavens above be dark;
for I have spoken; I have purposed;
ahI have not relented, nor will I turn back.”

then the ameternal mountains anwere scattered;
the everlasting hills sank low.
His were aothe everlasting ways.
