4 aThe earth mourns and withers;
the world languishes and withers;
the highest people of the earth languish.

Isaiah 33:8-9

8 bThe highways lie waste;
the traveler ceases.
cCovenants are broken;
cities

Lebanon is confounded and withers away;

Jeremiah 4:23-26

23 I looked on the earth, and behold, it was fwithout form and void;

and all the hills moved to and fro.

and all the birds of the air had fled.
