Isaiah 24:7-11

7 aThe wine mourns,
the vine languishes,
all the merry-hearted sigh.
8 bThe mirth of the tambourines is stilled,
the noise of the jubilant has ceased,
the mirth of the lyre is stilled.
9No more do they drink wine cwith singing;
strong drink is bitter to those who drink it.
10 dThe wasted city is broken down;
eevery house is shut up so that none can enter.
11 fThere is an outcry in the streets for lack of wine;
gall joy has grown dark;
the gladness of the earth is banished.

Amos 6:3-7

3 hO you who put far away the day of disaster
iand bring near the seat of violence?
4 “Woe to those jwho lie on kbeds of ivory
land stretch themselves out on their couches,
and eat lambs from the flock
mand calves from the midst of the stall,
5 nwho sing idle songs to the sound of the harp
and like David oinvent for themselves instruments of music,
6 pwho drink wine in bowls
and qanoint themselves with the finest oils,
but are not grieved over the ruin of Joseph!
7 rTherefore they shall now be the first of those who go into exile,
and the revelry of those who stretch themselves out shall pass away.”

Luke 21:34-36

Romans 13:11-14

11Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you abto wake from sleep. acFor salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. 12 adThe night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us aecast off afthe works of darkness and agput on the armor of light. 13 ahLet us walk properly as in the daytime, ainot in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, ajnot in quarreling and jealousy. 14But akput on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, alto gratify its desires.
