Isaiah 24:8-9

8 aThe mirth of the tambourines is stilled,
the noise of the jubilant has ceased,
the mirth of the lyre is stilled.
9No more do they drink wine bwith singing;
strong drink is bitter to those who drink it.

Amos 6:4-6

4 “Woe to those cwho lie on dbeds of ivory
eand stretch themselves out on their couches,
and eat lambs from the flock
fand calves from the midst of the stall,
5 gwho sing idle songs to the sound of the harp
and like David hinvent for themselves instruments of music,
6 iwho drink wine in bowls
and janoint themselves with the finest oils,

Jonah 3:3-9

3So Jonah arose and went to Nineveh, according to the word of the Lord. Now kNineveh was an exceedingly great city,

4Jonah began to go into the city, going a day’s journey. And he called out, “Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!” 5 nAnd the people of Nineveh believed God. oThey called for a fast and pput on sackcloth, from the greatest of them to the least of them.

the king of Nineveh, and rhe arose from his throne, removed his robe, covered himself with sackcloth, sand sat in ashes.
7And he issued a proclamation and published through Nineveh, t“By the decree of the king and his nobles: Let neither man nor ubeast, herd nor flock, taste anything. Let them not feed or drink water, 8but let man and vbeast be covered with sackcloth, and let them call out mightily to God. wLet everyone turn from his evil way and from xthe violence that is in his hands. 9 yWho knows? God may turn and relent zand turn from his fierce anger, so that we may not perish.”

22and aathe sound of harpists and musicians, of flute players and trumpeters,
