Isaiah 29:10-12

10 ^aFor the Lord has poured out upon you
a spirit of deep sleep,
and has closed your eyes (the prophets),
and covered your heads (the seers).
11 And the vision of all this has become to you like the words of a book that is ^bsealed. When men give it to one who can read, saying, “Read this,” he says, “I cannot, for it is sealed.” 12 And when they give the book to one who cannot read, saying, “Read this,” he says, “I cannot read.”

Isaiah 42:19-20

19 Who is blind but my servant,
or deaf as my messenger whom I send?
Who is blind as my dedicated one, ^{▼▼Or as the one at peace with me}
or blind as the servant of the Lord?
20 ^dHe sees many things, but does not observe them;
^ehis ears are open, but he does not hear.

Hosea 4:1

The Lord Accuses Israel

25 ^ac“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ^adyou clean the outside of ^aethe cup and the plate, but inside they are full of ^afgreed and self-indulgence. 26 You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of ^agthe cup and the plate, that the outside also may be clean.
