Because athis people bdraw near with their mouth
and honor me with their lips,
while their hearts are far from me,
and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men,

For which is greater, the gift or pthe altar that makes the gift sacred? 20So whoever swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it. 21And whoever swears by the temple swears by it and by qhim who dwells in it. 22And whoever swears by rheaven swears by sthe throne of God and by thim who sits upon it.

23 uWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For vyou tithe mint and dill and wcumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: xjustice and mercy and faithfulness. yThese you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. 24You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing za camel!
