The Siege of Jerusalem Symbolized

1“And you, fson of man, gtake a brick and lay it before you, and engrave on it a city, even Jerusalem. 2 hAnd put siegeworks against it, iand build a siege wall against it, jand cast up a mound against it. Set camps also against it, kand plant battering rams against it all around. 3And you, take an iron griddle, and place it as an iron wall between you and the city; land set your face toward it, mand let it be in a state of siege, and press the siege against it. This is na sign for the house of Israel.

4Then lie on your left side, and place the punishment

of the house of Israel upon it. For the number of the days that you lie on it, pyou shall bear their punishment.
5For I assign to you a number of days, q390 days, requal to the number of the years of their punishment. sSo long shall you bear tthe punishment of the house of Israel. 6And when you have completed these, you shall lie down a second time, but on your right side, and ubear vthe punishment of the house of Judah. wForty days I assign you, a day for each year. 7 xAnd you shall set your face toward the siege of Jerusalem, ywith your arm bared, and you shall prophesy against the city. 8And behold, zI will place cords upon you, so that you cannot turn from one side to the other, till you have completed aathe days of your siege.

Ezekiel 21:22-24

22Into his right hand comes the divination for Jerusalem, abto set battering rams, to open the mouth with murder, to lift up the voice with shouting, to set battering rams against the gates, acto cast up mounds, to build siege towers. 23But to them it will seem like a false divination. adThey have sworn solemn oaths, but he brings their guilt to remembrance, aethat they may be taken.

24Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because you have made your guilt to be remembered, in that your transgressions are uncovered, so that in all your deeds your sins appearbecause you have come to remembrance, afyou shall be taken in hand.

Luke 19:43-44

43For agthe days will come upon you, when your enemies ahwill set up a barricade around you and aisurround you and hem you in on every side 44 ajand tear you down to the ground, you and your children within you. And akthey will not leave one stone upon another in you, because you did not know althe time of your amvisitation.”
