The Compassion of the Lord

1 cCome, everyone who thirsts,
come to the waters;
and he who has no money,
dcome, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without price.
2 eWhy do you spend your money for that which is not bread,
and your labor for that which does not satisfy?
Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good,
and delight yourselves in rich food.
3Incline your ear, and come to me;
fhear, that your soul may live;
gand I will make with you an everlasting covenant,
hmy steadfast, sure love for iDavid.

and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

‘You have disciplined me, and I was disciplined,
like an untrained calf;
tbring me back that I may be restored,
for you are the Lord my God.
19For after uI had turned away, I relented,
and after I was instructed, vI struck my thigh;
wI was ashamed, and I was confounded,
because I bore the disgrace of my youth.’
20 xIs Ephraim my dear son?
yIs he my darling child?
For as often as I speak against him,
I do remember him still.
zTherefore my heart
Hebrew bowels
yearns for him;
I will surely have mercy on him,

declares the Lord.
