Do Not Go Down to Egypt

1 Ah, astubborn children,” declares the Lord,
b“who carry out a plan, but not mine,
and who make can alliance,
Hebrew  who weave a web
but not of my Spirit,
that they may add sin to sin;

Isaiah 57:12

12I will declare your righteousness and your deeds,
but they will not profit you.

Isaiah 64:6

6 eWe have all become like one who is unclean,
and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment.
fWe all fade like a leaf,
and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.

Romans 3:20-22

20For gby works of the law no human being
Greek flesh

The Righteousness of God Through Faith

21But now jthe righteousness of God khas been manifested apart from the law, although lthe Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— 22the righteousness of God mthrough faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. nFor there is no distinction:

Romans 4:6-8

6just as David also speaks of the blessing of the one to whom God counts righteousness apart from works:

7 oBlessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven,
and whose sins are covered;
8blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not pcount his sin.”

Revelation of John 3:17-18

17 qFor you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, rblind, and naked. 18I counsel you sto buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and twhite garments so that you may clothe yourself and uthe shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, vso that you may see.
