Isaiah 34:5

5 For my sword has drunk its fill in the heavens;
behold, it descends for judgment upon aEdom,
upon the people bI have devoted to destruction.

Isaiah 34:10-17

10Night and day cit shall not be quenched;
dits smoke shall go up forever.
eFrom generation to generation it shall lie waste;
none shall pass through it forever and ever.
11 fBut the hawk and the porcupine
The identity of the animals rendered  hawk and  porcupine is uncertain
shall possess it,
the owl and the raven shall dwell in it.
hHe shall stretch the line of iconfusion
Hebrew formlessness
over it,
and the plumb line of emptiness.
12Its nobles—there is no one there to call it a kingdom,
and all its princes shall be nothing.
13 kThorns shall grow over its strongholds,
nettles and thistles in its fortresses.
It shall be the haunt of ljackals,
an abode for ostriches.
Or owls

14 nAnd wild animals shall meet with hyenas;
the wild goat shall cry to his fellow;
indeed, there the night bird
Identity uncertain
settles
and finds for herself a resting place.
15 There the owl nests and lays
and hatches and gathers her young in her shadow;
indeed, there pthe hawks are gathered,
each one with her mate.
16Seek and read from the book of the Lord:
Not one of these shall be missing;
none shall be without her mate.
For the mouth of the Lord has commanded,
and his Spirit has gathered them.
17 qHe has cast the lot for them;
his hand has portioned it out to them with the line;
they shall possess it forever;
from generation to generation they shall dwell in it.

Jeremiah 49:7

Judgment on Edom

7Concerning rEdom.

Thus says the Lord of hosts:

s“Is wisdom no more in tTeman?
uHas counsel perished from the prudent?
vHas their wisdom vanished?

Jeremiah 49:13-18

13 wFor I have sworn by myself, declares the Lord, that xBozrah shall become ya horror, a taunt, a waste, and a curse, and all her cities shall be perpetual wastes.”

14 zI have heard a message from the Lord,
and an envoy has been sent among the nations:
aa“Gather yourselves together and come against her,
and rise up for battle!
15For behold, I will make you small among the nations,
despised among mankind.
16The horror you inspire has deceived you,
and the pride of your heart,
you who live in the clefts of the rock,
Or  of Sela

who hold the height of the hill.
Though you acmake your nest as high as the eagle’s,
I will bring you down from there,

declares the Lord.
17 adEdom shall become a horror. aeEveryone who passes by it will be horrified afand will hiss because of all its disasters. 18 agAs when Sodom and Gomorrah and their ahneighboring cities were overthrown, says the Lord, aino man shall dwell there, ajno man shall sojourn in her.
