Isaiah 37:10

10Thus shall you speak to Hezekiah king of Judah: a‘Do not let your God in whom you trust deceive you by promising that Jerusalem will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.

Isaiah 37:12-23

12 bHave the gods of the nations delivered them, the nations that my fathers destroyed, cGozan, dHaran, Rezeph, and the people of Eden who were in Telassar? 13 eWhere is the king of Hamath, the king of Arpad, the king of the city of Sepharvaim, the king of Hena, or the king of Ivvah?’”

Hezekiah’s Prayer for Deliverance

14Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it; and Hezekiah went up to the house of the Lord, and spread it before the Lord. 15And Hezekiah prayed to the Lord: 16“O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, fenthroned above the cherubim, you are the God, you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; gyou have made heaven and earth. 17 hIncline your ear, O Lord, and hear; open your eyes, O Lord, and see; and hear iall the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to mock the living God. 18Truly, O Lord, jthe kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations and their lands, 19and have cast their gods into the fire. For they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone. Therefore they were destroyed. 20So now, O Lord our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone are the Lord.”

Sennacherib’s Fall

21Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Because you have prayed to me concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria, 22this is the word that the Lord has spoken concerning him:

“‘She despises you, she scorns you—
kthe virgin daughter of Zion;
she wags her head behind you—
the daughter of Jerusalem.
23 “‘Whom have you mocked and reviled?
Against whom have you raised your voice
and lifted your eyes to the heights?
Against lthe Holy One of Israel!

Daniel 4:30-37

30and the king answered and said, m“Is not this great Babylon, which I have built by nmy mighty power as a royal residence and for othe glory of my majesty?” 31 pWhile the words were still in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, “O King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: The kingdom has departed from you, 32 qand you shall be driven from among men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. And you shall be made to eat grass like an ox, and seven periods of time shall pass over you, runtil you know that the Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will.” 33Immediately the word was fulfilled against Nebuchadnezzar. sHe was driven from among men and ate grass like an ox, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven till his hair grew as long as eagles’ feathers, and his nails were like birds’ claws.

Nebuchadnezzar Restored

34 tAt the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and umy reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and praised and honored vhim who lives forever,

wfor his dominion is an everlasting dominion,
and xhis kingdom endures from generation to generation;
35 yall the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing,
and zhe does according to his will among the host of heaven
and among the inhabitants of the earth;
aaand none can stay his hand
or absay to him, “What have you done?”
36At the same time acmy reason returned to me, and for adthe glory of my kingdom, aemy majesty and splendor returned to me. afMy counselors and agmy lords sought me, and I was established in my kingdom, and still more greatness was ahadded to me. 37Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, aipraise and extol and honor the ajKing of heaven, akfor all his works are right and his ways are just; and althose who walk in pride he is able to humble.
