Hezekiah’s Sickness and Recovery

1 aIn those days Hezekiah became bsick and was at the point of death. And cIsaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said to him, “Thus says the Lord: Set your house in order, for you shall die, you shall not recover.”
Or live; also verses 9, 21
2Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, 3and said, “Please, O Lord, remember how eI have walked before you in faithfulness and with a whole heart, and have done what is good in your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

Isaiah 38:5

5Go and say to Hezekiah, Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Behold, I will add ffifteen years to your life.

for the Lord your God?

Amos 5:15

15 oHate evil, and love good,
and establish justice pin the gate;
qit may be that the Lord, the God of hosts,
will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.

Jonah 1:6

6So the captain came and said to him, “What do you mean, you sleeper? Arise, rcall out to your god! sPerhaps the god will give a thought to us, that we may not perish.”

Jonah 3:9-10

9 tWho knows? God may turn and relent uand turn from his fierce anger, so that we may not perish.”

10When God saw what they did, vhow they turned from their evil way, wGod relented of the disaster that he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it.

James 4:9-10

9 xBe wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 yHumble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.
