The Branch of the Lord Glorified

2In that day athe branch of the Lord shall be beautiful and glorious, and bthe fruit of the land shall be the pride and honor of the survivors of Israel.

Isaiah 11:1-5

The Righteous Reign of the Branch

1 There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of cJesse,
and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit.
2And dthe Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him,
the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and might,
the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.
3And his delight shall be in the fear of the Lord.
eHe shall not judge by fwhat his eyes see,
or decide disputes by gwhat his ears hear,
4but hwith righteousness he shall judge the poor,
and decide with equity for the meek of the earth;
and he shall istrike the earth with the rod of his mouth,
and jwith the breath of his lips khe shall kill the wicked.
5Righteousness shall be the belt of his waist,
and lfaithfulness the belt of his loins.

Isaiah 53:2

2For he grew up before him like a young plant,
mand like a root out of dry ground;
nhe had no form or majesty that we should look at him,
and no beauty that we should desire him.

Jeremiah 23:5-6

5 oBehold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous pBranch, and qhe shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. 6In his days Judah will be saved, and rIsrael will sdwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called: t‘The Lord is our righteousness.’

Ezekiel 17:22-23

22Thus says the Lord God: u“I myself will take a sprig from the lofty top of the cedar and will set it out. vI will break off from the topmost of its young twigs a tender one, and wI myself will plant it on a high and lofty mountain. 23 xOn the mountain height of Israel will I plant it, that it may bear branches and produce fruit and become a noble cedar. yAnd under it will dwell every kind of bird; in the shade of its branches birds of every sort will nest.

Zechariah 3:8

12And say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, “Behold, the man whose name is acthe Branch: for he shall branch out from his place, and adhe shall build the temple of the Lord. 13 aeIt is he who shall build the temple of the Lord afand shall bear royal honor, and shall sit and rule on his throne. And there shall be a agpriest on his throne, ahand the counsel of peace shall be between them both.”’
