Comfort for God’s People

1 aComfort, comfort my people, says your God.

Isaiah 61:2-3

2 bto proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor,
cand the day of vengeance of our God;
to comfort all who mourn;
3to grant to those who mourn in Zion
dto give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes,
ethe oil of gladness instead of mourning,
the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit;
fthat they may be called oaks of righteousness,
the planting of the Lord, gthat he may be glorified.
Or  that he may display his beauty

2 Corinthians 1:4

4 iwho comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
