Isaiah 40:1-2

Comfort for God’s People

1 ^aComfort, comfort my people, says your God.
2 ^bSpeak tenderly to Jerusalem,
and cry to her
that ^cher warfare ^{▼▼Or hardship} is ended,
that her iniquity is pardoned,
that she has received from the Lord’s hand
double for all her sins.

Isaiah 51:3

3 For the Lord ^ecomforts Zion;
he comforts all her waste places
and makes her wilderness like ^fEden,
her desert like ^gthe garden of the Lord;
^hjoy and gladness will be found in her,
thanksgiving and the voice of song.
