Isaiah 40:20

20 aHe who is too impoverished for an offering
chooses wood
Or  He chooses valuable wood
that will not rot;
he seeks out a skillful craftsman
to set up an idol that will not move.

Jeremiah 10:3-8

3 cfor the customs of the peoples are vanity.

eA tree from the forest is cut down
and worked with an axe by the hands of a craftsman.
4 fThey decorate it with silver and gold;
gthey fasten it with hammer and nails
so that it cannot move.

8 nThey are both ostupid and foolish;
the instruction of idols is but wood!

Hosea 4:12

12My people pinquire of a piece of wood,
and their walking staff gives them oracles.
For qa spirit of whoredom has led them astray,
and they have left their God to play the whore.

Habakkuk 2:19

19 rWoe to him swho says to a wooden thing, Awake;
to a silent stone, Arise!
Can this teach?
Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver,
and tthere is no breath at all in it.
