10And the disciples asked him, “Then why do the scribes say lthat first Elijah must come?” 11He answered, Elijah does come, and mhe will restore all things. 12But I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but ndid to him whatever they pleased. oSo also the Son of Man will certainly suffer at their hands.” 13 pThen the disciples understood that he was speaking to them of John the Baptist.

47And some of the bystanders, hearing it, said, “This man is calling Elijah.” 48And one of them at once ran and took a sponge, filled it with qsour wine, and put it on a reed and rgave it to him to drink. 49But the others said, “Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to save him.”

Mark 9:11-13

And uhow is it written of the Son of Man that he should vsuffer many things and wbe treated with contempt? 13But I tell you that Elijah has come, and xthey did to him whatever they pleased, as it is written of him.”
