Isaiah 40:6-8

The Word of God Stands Forever

6 A voice says, “Cry!”
And I said,

What shall I cry?”
bAll flesh is grass,
and all its beauty
Or  all its constancy
is like the flower of the field.
7The grass withers, the flower fades
when the breath of the Lord blows on it;
surely the people are grass.
8 dThe grass withers, the flower fades,
but the word of our God will stand forever.

The Lesson from the Withered Fig Tree

20 eAs they passed by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered away to its roots. 21And Peter remembered and said to him, fRabbi, look! The fig tree that you cursed has withered.”

James 1:10-11

10and gthe rich in his humiliation, because hlike a flower of the grass
Or  a wild flower
he will pass away.
11For the sun rises with its scorching heat and jwithers the grass; its flower falls, and its beauty perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits.
