Isaiah 61:1-3
The Year of the Lord’s Favor
1 dThe Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,because the Lord has eanointed me
to bring good news to the poor; ▼
▼Or afflicted
he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and gthe opening of the prison to those who are bound; ▼
2 ito proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor,
jand the day of vengeance of our God;
to comfort all who mourn;
3to grant to those who mourn in Zion—
kto give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes,
lthe oil of gladness instead of mourning,
the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit;
mthat they may be called oaks of righteousness,
the planting of the Lord, nthat he may be glorified. ▼
▼Or that he may display his beauty

12 wFor there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; xfor the same Lord is Lord of all, ybestowing his riches on all who call on him. 13For z“everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”14How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him aaof whom they have never heard? ▼
▼Or him whom they have never heard
And how are they to hear acwithout someone preaching? 15And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ad“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”
