Isaiah 44:9-10

The Folly of Idolatry

9 ^aAll who fashion idols are nothing, and the things they delight in do not profit. Their witnesses neither see nor know, that they may be put to shame. 10 ^bWho fashions a god or casts an idol that is profitable for nothing?

Isaiah 44:17

17 And the rest of it he makes into a god, his idol, and falls down to it and worships it. ^cHe prays to it and says, “Deliver me, for you are my god!”

Hosea 13:2-3

2 And now they sin more and more,
and ^dmake for themselves metal images,
idols skillfully made of their silver,
^eall of them the work of craftsmen.
It is said of them,
“Those who offer human sacrifice ^fkiss calves!”
3 Therefore they shall be ^glike the morning mist
or ^hlike the dew that goes early away,
ⁱlike the chaff that swirls from the threshing floor
or ^jlike smoke from a window.
