Isaiah 48:1-2

Israel Refined for God’s Glory

1 Hear this, O house of Jacob,
^awho are called by the name of Israel,
and ^bwho came from the waters of Judah,
^cwho swear by the name of the Lord
and confess the God of Israel,
but not in truth or right.
2 For they call themselves after the holy city,
^dand stay themselves on the God of Israel;
the Lord of hosts is his name.

25 For circumcision indeed is of value ^vif you obey the law, but if you break the law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision. 26 So, if ^wa man who is uncircumcised keeps ^xthe precepts of the law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded ^{▼▼Or counted} as circumcision? 27 Then he who is physically ^{▼▼Or is by nature} uncircumcised but keeps the law ^aawill condemn you who have ^abthe written code ^{▼▼Or the letter} and circumcision but break the law. 28 For ^adno one is a Jew ^aewho is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical. 29 But a Jew is one ^afinwardly, and ^agcircumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. ^ahHis praise is not from man but from God.
