Isaiah 48:1-2

Israel Refined for God’s Glory

1 Hear this, O house of Jacob,
awho are called by the name of Israel,
and bwho came from the waters of Judah,
cwho swear by the name of the Lord
and confess the God of Israel,
but not in truth or right.
2For they call themselves after the holy city,
dand stay themselves on the God of Israel;

Jeremiah 7:4-10

4 eDo not trust in these deceptive words: ‘This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord.’

5For if you truly famend your ways and your deeds, if you truly gexecute justice one with another, 6if you hdo not oppress the sojourner, the fatherless, or the widow, ior shed innocent blood in this place, jand if you do not go after other gods to your own harm, 7 kthen I will let you dwell in this place, lin the land that I gave of old to your fathers forever.

8Behold, you trust in deceptive words to no avail. 9 mWill you steal, murder, commit adultery, nswear falsely, omake offerings to Baal, pand go after other gods that you have not known, 10and then come and stand before me in this house, qwhich is called by my name, and say, ‘We are delivered!’—only to go on doing all these abominations?

Or  brothers and sisters
—so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.’
29But Abraham said, ‘They have aeMoses and the Prophets; aflet them hear them.’ 30And he said, ‘No, agfather Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31He said to him, ‘If they do not hear ahMoses and the Prophets, aineither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.’”
