Isaiah 48:14-15

14 Assemble, all of you, and listen!
aWho among them has declared these things?
The Lord loves him;
bhe shall perform his purpose on Babylon,
and his arm shall be against cthe Chaldeans.
15 dI, even I, have spoken and called him;
I have brought him, and he will prosper in his way.

Jeremiah 50:21-32

21 “Go up against the land of Merathaim,
 Merathaim means double rebellion

and against the inhabitants of Pekod.
 Pekod means punishment

Kill, gand devote them to destruction,
That is, set apart ( devote) as an offering to the Lord (for destruction)


declares the Lord,
and do all that I have commanded you.
22 iThe noise of battle is in the land,
and great destruction!
23 jHow the hammer of the whole earth
is cut down and broken!
kHow Babylon lhas become
a horror among the nations!
24 mI set a snare for you and you were taken, O Babylon,
and nyou did not know it;
you were found and caught,
because you opposed the Lord.
25The Lord has opened his armory
and brought out othe weapons of his wrath,
for the Lord God of hosts has a work to do
in the land of the Chaldeans.
26Come against her from every quarter;
open her granaries;
ppile her up like heaps of grain, and devote her to destruction;
let nothing be left of her.
27Kill all qher bulls;
let them go down to the slaughter.
Woe to them, for their day has come,
rthe time of their punishment.
28“A voice! They sflee and escape from the land of Babylon, tto declare in Zion the vengeance of the Lord our God, vengeance for uhis temple.

29 vSummon archers against Babylon, all those who bend the bow. wEncamp around her; let no one escape. xRepay her according to her deeds; do to her according to all that she has done. For she has yproudly defied the Lord, the Holy One of Israel. 30 zTherefore her young men shall fall in her squares, and all her soldiers shall be destroyed on that day, declares the Lord.

31 Behold, I am against you, O aaproud one,
declares the Lord God of hosts,
abfor your day has come,
the time when I will punish you.
32 acThe proud one shall stumble and fall,
with none to raise him up,
adand I will kindle a fire in his cities,
and it will devour all that is around him.

Jeremiah 51:11

11 aeSharpen the arrows!
Take up the shields!
afThe Lord has stirred up the spirit of the kings of agthe Medes, because ahhis purpose concerning Babylon is to destroy it, aifor that is the vengeance of the Lord, the vengeance for ajhis temple.

Jeremiah 51:27-28

27 ak“Set up a standard on the earth;
alblow the trumpet among the nations;
amprepare anthe nations for war against her;
summon against her aothe kingdoms,
apArarat, Minni, and aqAshkenaz;
appoint a armarshal against her;
asbring up horses like bristling locusts.
28 atPrepare authe nations for war against her,
the kings of avthe Medes, awwith their governors axand deputies,
and every ayland under their dominion.

Jeremiah 51:57

57 azI will make drunk her officials and her wise men,
baher governors, her commanders, and her warriors;
they shall sleep a perpetual sleep and not wake,
declares bbthe King, whose name is the Lord of hosts.

Daniel 5:25-31

25And this is the writing that was inscribed: Mene, Mene, Tekel, and Parsin. 26This is the interpretation of the matter: Mene, God has numbered
 Mene sounds like the Aramaic for  numbered
the days of your kingdom and brought it to an end;
27Tekel, bdyou have been weighed
 Tekel sounds like the Aramaic for  weighed
in the balances and found wanting;
28Peres, your kingdom is divided and given to bfthe Medes and bgPersians.”
 Peres (the singular of  Parsin) sounds like the Aramaic for  divided and for Persia


29Then biBelshazzar gave the command, and Daniel bjwas clothed with purple, a chain of gold was put around his neck, and a proclamation was made about him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.

30 bkThat very night blBelshazzar the bmChaldean king was killed. 31

Nahum 1:9-10

9What bqdo you plot against the Lord?
brHe will make a complete end;
trouble will not rise up a second time.
10For they are bslike entangled thorns,
like drunkards as they drink;
btthey are consumed like stubble fully dried.
